If you answered 'YES' to any of these questions, then get ready for some inspiration, because I have an honest-to-goodness goldmine of a resource for you today. It’s my latest course, called “50 Smokin’ Shuffle Riffs”.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m a die-hard guitar fanatic. I’m not the most talented guy, but I never stop striving to improve.
This year is turning out to be a game-changer. You see, I already had gotten to the point where I felt comfortable playing the blues. But, even after learning hundreds of tunes… and even after being able to play things like a 240-bar acoustic solo, it felt like there was STILL something missing.
I just wasn’t sure WHAT.
So I did what I always do: Go back and study the greats.
I was watching some of my favorite blues players, like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chris Duarte, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and then it hit me:
These great players have amazing consistency and solidness, and more specifically: their right hand strumming is just so dialed-in.
So I asked myself “How can I be more like that? Maybe I need to play with even more rock-solid consistency, even if it's simple.”
So I started working on my strumming approach (while still throwing in the licks and melodies).
So then I really “dumbed it down” for myself and focused ONLY on the riffs and the strumming, knowing that this would be a great foundation and probably will fill in a lot of the holes in my entire approach.
I started with some really rock solid and simple riffs that I knew just worked. But then, as things always go… the more time I spent on it, the more things opened up.
I started with basic stuff, and then began to notice things like: “Oh, I could also play these notes instead”. Or: “Wow, I could use an inversion of the chord here”. Or: “Hey,I could flatten out my finger and get a 9 chord just like Stevie does, and use that in my riff. Cool!”
I started writing out all these different ideas in my notebook, and before I knew it, I had a whole slew of new riffs and I got very excited that my playing was evolving once again.
The result? I put all this into a new course so you can gain the same benefits I’m getting, and hopefully you’ll be just as excited as I am about adding some new sounds and skills to your playing.
Unlike some of my courses in the past, I really tried to stay away from too many "concepts" and theory, and just focused on stuff you can play right away and that sounds great.
🔥 Play the absolute classic blues guitar shuffle riffs, but in a way that’s easy on your fingers and feels effortless.
🔥 You know that basic minor pentatonic scale that everyone plays cause it's so simple? I’ll show you how to turn it into an actual stompin riff. This might be the fastest way to go from “noodling noob” to “blues pro”.
🔥 Little half-step movements aren’t just a gimmick. You can use them to create surprisingly musical motifs. (Plus they’re a breeze to play).
🔥 As you go through this course, you’ll be getting a sort of “harmonic tour” of different possibilities. This is how you can express yourself with different SOUNDS and never get bored (AND you’ll never sound boring!)
🔥 You’re gonna love the section on rhythm rudiments, because it will multiply the possibilities and let you create your own endless riffs and variations.
🔥 Get that famous “Chicago Blues” sound. It’s actually all based on some simple triads. I’ll connect the dots for you, so you’ll really feel like you know what you’re doing.
🔥 One of the EASIEST and most effective ways to throw in a “9 chord” into any riff. SRV would often include this move into his shuffles. 🙂
🔥 Tired of blues cliches? I’ll hook you up with some surprising new combinations that use triad inversions.
🔥 I’ll share some of my exotic ideas like “routing a chord back to it's own inversion”, but you’ll own them instantly just by playing the riff example.
How to use “shell voicings” for fresh sounding riffs that you can’t get with normal chords.
🔥 “Progressions within progressions” pack a ton of harmonic movement into a single bar.
🔥 Pedal tone ideas -- and even better: “double pedals” will add even more to your bag of tricks
🔥 Harmonization patterns that create a true richness to your playing...
