Hi, everybody this is Darrin Goodman with Guitar Control, I want to show you a “12 bar blues in E”.
With this one it’s a shuffle and it’s a little bit different than your typical you know like there’s a lot more intervals and stuff therein involved with it so this will actually be part one of a two part lesson. We’re going to go over half of it in this lesson and then we’ll finish it up in the next lesson. Starting off you got your first finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th string and then you play the 6th string open, so we’re going to play that twice and the way that I’m playing this and then it’s all going to be tabbed out in you know for you. It’ll be all an eighth note feels like 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 but this thing is really easy to change up that rhythm and stuff by the way you strum it so you know how to play around with it, you try to make it your own.
So starting off with that we move our second finger to the 3rd fret of the 6th string our third finger to the 4th fret of the 6th string then we go back to the original where we started for three and then our fourth finger goes to the 5th fret of the 5th string 4th fret of the 5th string. Now that is one bar so you’re going to do that four times because it’s a one, four, five, twelve bar so you’ve got four bars a one two bars of for two bars of one and then a bar five and a bar four and then at that point you know you either would do two bars one again or have the turnaround in this case we’re going to have a turnaround.
So for the first four bars of the one chord, we’re ready to move to the four chord which is really easy all you do is you just move your first finger from the 5th string to the 4th string and you play the exact same frets but now you’re doing it based on the 5th and 4th string instead of the 6th in the 4th string so just like that it’s one measure so we’re going to do that twice for the two bars of four and then we’re going to move back to our original position for two more bars of one.
From there we’re going to go to the five chord which is B and this is where things change up a little bit it gets slightly more complicated so first finger is on the 2nd fret of the 5th string and our third finger is on the 4th fret of the 4th string. Now we’re going to take your fourth finger and move it to the 5th fret of the 5th string and then slide that up a half-step then you take your first finger and you barre it across the 4th and 3rd string on the 4th fret then you slide up to the 7th fret that’s one barre of five.
Now we’re going to do one bar four so just the same thing you already did and then back to the original position of that first finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th string and you’re going to do that twice so that whole sequence and from there it would go into the turnaround.
