Hey, how’s it going guys this is Jon McLennan with Guitar Control, excited to bring you this video lessons and we’re looking at a blues in the key of e “12 bar blues”. Here’s a nice way you can maneuver through that chord progression.

We’ve got the low e and the open third string, we’re going to start by playing those notes together and then immediately hammering on your first finger onto the first fret of the third string, then play the high e. I’m basically thinking of this chord in e7, if I just play those root, and the third really makes the sound of the chord right away.
What I mean is we’re going to start there, and then we go back down, play the low e, and then we’re going to work with a very cliché guitar riff, where you might have played something like, but we’re going to break up the notes a little bit and what I’m doing is playing the low e, then the fourth fret, then the low e, then the fifth fret low e. I’m kind of alternating those notes with a four, five, and four, that’s it.
It may take a while for you to get the coordination you want, let’s see if you can ring those notes out. If you want a little different sound, you can keep them of staccato or chopped off like this. You’ll decide which one you like better, let’s see if we can put this into a blues we’ll try it together and play along with me here we go one, two, three, four, and then, go up to an a, back to e, b7, a7 turn around.
