Hey, it’s Claude Johnson and it is April 1st, 2012.
I do not have an April Fool’s joke for you, but I
do have a blues lick. So let me show it to you.
Here’s the lick of the day. One more time.
First thing, this is in the key of A pentatonic.
So if you don’t know the basic A pentatonic scale,
then go ahead and get my beginning lead guitar course;
I’ll show you all the basics.
So you’ve got this basic scale and let me show you
this lick in little pieces and I’ll just keep adding
to it. The first part, we’re just going to do this.
You’re on the 7th fret of the G string. We’re just
going to bend up and release. You got that? That’s
just two notes. That’s easy, right?
Now let’s try this. After we bend that, we do a
hammer-on/pull-off with our first finger on the
5th fret of the G string and then ring finger on
the 7th fret. And then we hammer-on to the 7th fret
of the D string with our middle finger, a little
triplet rhythm there. You’ve got this part down, right?
Now we’re going to add these four notes. We’re just
starting here on the 5th fret of the G string and
just going down the scale. For this, I’m just picking
that first note with an up-stroke. And then hammer,
pull-off, hammer. So I’m just picking that first note.
Now the last part, we’re going to go like this.
That starts here on the 5th fret of the D string,
then 7th fret of the A string and we’ll slide down
to the 5th fret, pull-off to the 3rd. So we have this.
And then, the last part is. We kind of do a double
bend there. And then we hammer back on here and that’s
it. So hammer, pull-off and then low E string, 5th fret.
So once again, that last part, slow would be.
All right, thanks for watching and I will catch you next time.
