Hey, this is Matias Rengel with Guitar Control, we’ll be learning this song called “I want you back” by the Jackson 5. A really cool song and this is not the typical lead guitar lesson where you’re going to be learning the exact part that the guitar player is doing but this is going to be even cooler you’re going to be learning how to play this song on your guitar so you can go on your own with your acoustic guitar, electric guitar and sing it with your friends on You Tube or wherever you want to.
Make sure you download the tab so you can follow along with this video, so let’s get down to it so the first thing I’m going to be checking out it’s the actual structure of the song and we’re going to check the chords that I’m playing and then I’m going to show you riffs theorem that I’m doing.
So for the first chord that I’m doing we have an E major the second one is a B major, by the way I’m going to break this down for you in a second then we’re going to C sharp minor, G sharp minor, from there A major, E major, F sharp minor, E major.
Now let’s break it down for the first Chord E major you probably know but just in case bring your middle finger into the 2nd fret of the 5th string ring finger into the 2nd fret of the 4th and index finger into the 1st fret of the third after learning the chords we’re going to go for the rhythm as well from there you’re going to go to the A major for that place the index middle and ring on the 2nd fret of the 4th string. Now from there we’re going to C sharp minor from there we’re going to place our index finger on the 4th fret of all the strings actually and from they’re you going to go into the 6th fret of the 4th string with your ring finger, 6th fret of the 3rd string with your pinky and 5th fret of the of the 2nd string with your middle.
Check it out from there you’re going to remove this one and bring this to a string up and from there what you can do you is go back to this one if you want this A major or you can go one foot up with this one and bring down the middle finger to the 3rd string so that’s an E major you can also play this but since you’re there and then back to the E major that we know and what we’re going to do is place our middle finger on the 2nd fret of the 6th, ring finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th, pinky on the 2nd fret of the 3rd.
We’re going to avoid playing this fifth, some sort of F sharp minor from there bring this to the ring and the pinky one fret up two fret ups they will end up in the 4th and then bring the index finger into the 2nd fret of the 5th, avoid playing the 6th string and then back to the E major.
We’re going to take you to a step further, so what I’m going to show you is the riff that happens here, after E major you’re going sixth on fret of the six, four of the six, second for the fifth, four fret of the fifth and then play the E major after that you’re going to do you’re going to stick on fret of the six, third fret of the six, four three of the six second fret on the 5th serve from a fifth fourth fret of a fifth.
Now for the rhythm there are many ways of playing this but I like to play like this so for the first one I do and then I start doing okay I don’t think I go with this same here now check it out you can play you can play like with one finger as I do you should in this now hit one time each Corinne right you see how many times is the mute no series lesson one two three four times now you could play without the riff of course you could go like this why’d you go down you can do a basic rhythm right now down you could do that super simple and actually for the quarters you’re going through the same I mean originally what I like to do with this song I like to play the riff version right for the verses workers coming with this on here’s the same sometimes you can do if you don’t want to play this if it’s not natural to you to do right down, down, it’s down, down, up, down, down, up, down, down, up, that’s it it’s a very simple way I’m playing it a little rough right now because I don’t know it seems like it’s something that you wouldn’t want to play in the acoustic guitar the way that I’m showing it to you right now.
