How to Play Woman Across the River by Freddie King

Hey, how’s it going this is Claude Johnson with Guitar Control, I’m going to show you how to play “Woman Across the River” by Freddie King. It’s basically a blues but there’s some twists that are not going to be your normal twelve bar blues. So it starts off the Intros G7 to F7 to C7 and then go back to G.

This is a good voicing, you should know by the way this is going to be 10, 9, 10, 8, here’s a good way you can start off and play the Intro. Let’s start off with this little lick on the the 5th fret D-string and pluck the top three strings and then I’m going to grab the whole chord as a passing chord in F sharp, then I go up.

On the D-string to the 10th fret up to the 12th part on the 10th fret, I’m going to go to 8th fret middle finger and hit that high E-string with my ring finger, and then I’m going to walk this lower note down. So I end up with this note on the 8th fret and my first fingers all the way back on the 5th fret. Then finally I’ll just kick it off barring the 8th fret and I’ll just hit the G-string.
