How’s it going, guys? My name is John McClennan
and I’m here with guitarcontrol.com, bringing
you this video lesson. We’re looking at the
chord changes to “Giant Steps”, John Coletrane’s
amazing tune. We’ve looked at a few examples
going over the first four bars and now we’re
working on the next four bars, starting on a
G major 7. So be sure to click the link
below for the tab for this. Here we go.
We’ve got 3-4-4-3 for the first chord. And
then B flat 9 for the next chord. This is going
to be 6-6-5-3; going to E flat major 7, which
is 6-5-3-3; to an F sharp 13, which is 2-2-3-4
and then resolving to a B major 7: 2-4-3-4.
Then we go… A nice little II-V-I movement
going from F minor 11: 3-5-4-6 to B flat 9:
6-5-3-6 and then resolving on an E flat 6-9:
5-5-6-6. A great little cadence there.
Be sure to click the link below for the
tab and let’s do it together one more time.
So here we go. Real nice jazz voicings.
Thanks for watching. See you next time.
