My goal is to take you through 50 classic songs from the 70s. I will show you how I’m going to approach the rhythm, showing you the chord voicing to use if playing with a band or with a singer. The song is “25 or 6 to 4” by Chicago. Sounds like a great opening line utilizing octaves. Putting my first finger on the sixth string fifth fret, and pinky on the seventh fret of the fourth string. Notice I’m skipping a string, and you can use your third finger if you want. After this, you’re going to play all down strokes with the right hand. The trick is muting what you want.
Dampen all the other strings, you don’t have them ringing open. Play that on the fifth fret and then move down two frets to the g note and of the first finger, keep your fingers on the strings, then move down a half step to the second fret f sharp, down another fret, then you go to this e power chord, which just open the 2nd fret and the last two are half the length, so that’s the first par of the song.
