Hey, how’s it going this is Jon McLennan with Guitar Control, thanks for tuning in. I want to show you a guitar lesson today this one’s in the style of John Mayer song called “Waiting on the World to Change” Personally, I’m a huge fan of John Mayer and I think he’s a fantastic guitar player. What I love about this solo is how it’s all on one string, and it’s very Stevie Ray Vaughn / Hendrix kind of moves.

Basically you’re starting with your third finger on the 5th fret of the 2nd string slide up a whole step then you come back to 5, hammer the 7 and slide up to 10 and you keep going in this sort of matter, it’s in the same sort of fashion through the d major pentatonic scale 7, 10, 12, 10, 12, 15, it’s the hardest thing over sliding trying to nail everyone keep going 12, 15, 17, little bend 15.
When you end with way up here on 19 doing a half step in getting this sound, and then on the root note D 2nd string 15th fret pretty sweet little move there. I love when you use the half step bend I could get it in tune, check out “Lenny” by Stevie Ray Vaughn does a lot of licks like that Hendrix would also do this kind of stuff. So one more time on the Mayer thing to notice is my right hand is playing with my fingers hiding my pick.
