Have you ever watched a good guitarist play something, and said to yourself: “Man, I wish I could sound that smooth!”
Would you love to play some hit songs on the guitar but were worried you can’t really do it right or that you’ll never actually sound that good?
Have you tried your hand at the guitar for a while (maybe on and off), but it just seems like the improvements are coming slower than a drunk turtle? Or you already know a lot, but you’re not sure how to get to the next level?
If you answered “yes”, OR you just want to get a fresh batch of hot songs under your belt in record time, then read on…
I have a hunch that you’re going to be just as pumped as I am about this brand new course called “Ultimate Guitar Song Collection 6: The Campfire Hits”.
This is the 6th "guitar song collection" series I've done, but it's different.
Why? Well, for one thing, it comes with live classes (more on that in a moment). Also, it’s designed to really elevate your playing like nothing else I’ve taught before.
If you’ve ever struggled on the guitar, don’t beat yourself up. Playing an instrument isn’t easy. We’re not born with it -- it's a skill we all have to work at to develop our potential. Man… I can remember so many times feeling frustrated like I should be farther along than I was. Story of my life.
For example, when I was in college, I was always practicing guitar scales and exercises in my room. Everyone in the dorm knew me as the "guitar guy". One night my roommate comes back from the pub with 3 of his buddies and 2 smokin' chicks.
They said: "Claude, play us a song!"
I tried my best to play something, but halfway through the song, I couldn't remember the chords. It was a total embarrassment.
To add insult to injury, one of the other guys (who I think didn't even own a guitar) said "hey lemme see that thing" and he churned out a couple sweet tunes. Everyone was singing and having a great time (except me). Here I was, the dude who was supposedly the "guitar guy", being humiliated by this random bum.
Persistence does pay off. Like Hendrix said “If you stick with it, you’re going to be rewarded”. That’s true. But I have to say, it does help when you have good mentors and teachers helping you stay on the right path.
And that’s maybe where I can lend a hand. For the last 20 years, it’s been my mission to help other guitarists on their musical journey while I keep going on my own.
On the one hand, there’s never been a better time to learn guitar than there is right now. Any song you want to learn, you can look up the chords on the Internet. You can find THOUSANDS of free videos on just about any guitar topic and every musical genre under the sun.
But that’s also what makes it hard. There’s TOO much. Where do you start? Which approach do you follow? Which teacher do you listen to? There’s only so many hours in the day. Not to mention, a lot of the online chords are wrong.
So, while there is tons of great info out there, there’s even more ways to go down the wrong paths, spin your wheels, and waste your precious time.
Sticking Point #1: Haven’t Mastered the Basics
The first main sticking point is with beginners who haven’t mastered the basics yet, and specifically: They still struggle to form the basic chords like G, C, D, Em, Am, Dm, and A. Or, they can play the chords but it takes them too long to switch between them.
This is somewhat tragic, because so many give up at this stage. That’s because they aren’t making music and it’s not much fun yet. They don’t realize how amazingly fun it gets once you “get over the hump”. Once you can play basic chords and switch between them, all that annoying struggle is behind you, and a whole universe of music sits right in front of you.
An easy exercise you can do to conquer this stage is just pick any two basic chords (like G and C) and just drill switching between them. Don’t even worry about the rhythm, just focus on the raw skill of switching chords, and after that, everything gets easier. I promise.
Sticking Point #2: Got the Basics, But Still a Bit Lost
At the intermediate level, you have your guitarists who can play chords and maybe some songs (or parts of songs), and then typically they want to improve and start looking at things like technique, music theory, advanced chords, scales, and so on. And it’s easy to get lost at this stage. It’s quite typical to study various aspects of the guitar and collect a lot of “puzzle pieces” trying to reach for higher levels.
All that study and exploration is great, but what they often forget is to keep focusing on the fundamentals. That means getting better at songs and rhythms. I know, it’s not always glamorous, but it’s so important.
If you’re in this boat, you need to focus on playing complete songs and work on your repertoire. You might want to sing a bit. You can get away with singing under your breath or even humming, but the vocals are often the main melody and you need to hold the song together. Another big key at this stage is strumming rhythms. The way you strum the chords can be almost as important as the chords themselves, and it’s a big component of holding the rhythm together and making the song “work”.
Sticking Point #3: Got Experience, But Could Be More Solid
Finally, there are the guitarists who have been playing for a long time, but could be better. I’ve seen many of these guys over the years (including myself). They know a lot, they can play… but they don’t always play TIGHT. And sometimes they struggle to “carry the song”, meaning they are relying too much on the other musicians to create a strong groove.
And again, it comes down to fundamentals: It’s not about advanced scales or anything like that. It’s about being ROCK SOLID. That’s what makes you sound like a pro.
How to get there? There were two big things that helped me: First of all, making a habit out of tapping my foot, getting my body into the rhythm, and generally feeling the groove on a physical level. Secondly, recording myself and forcing myself to play through complete songs without making too many mistakes while playing tight.
To cut right to the chase, the main thing that I’m doing differently here is I’m offering live coaching as part of the package. I figure that in this day and age of information overload, what some people might really want is some good old-fashioned personal guidance. In the past, I’ve mostly only offered digital courses, so this is kind of a new experiment for me.
Plus, I tried to make it even more simple than my previous song courses and went for songs that I think would sound good “around the campfire”, and would sound nice on acoustic guitar, (and also chose the rockingest songs I could), hence the name “campfire hits”.
And also I really try to convey what I’ve learned over the past few years in terms of just a really solid, pro-sounding approach. There’s always more to learn (me included), but hopefully I can shortcut your learning curve, which is always my goal as a teacher.
I’m by no means the greatest guitarist in the world or anything like that. However, guitar has been my passion for over 30 years. I’ve played hundreds of gigs, produced dozens of courses, and I’ve had millions of guitarists read my newsletter. I could go on about my “credentials” but who cares, right? This is about you and what you can get out of this course.
If you’re experiencing any of the three “sticking points” I mentioned earlier, this course is for you. Or, if you think you’re already solid enough but just want a sweet new repertoire of songs boiled down into a quick package for easy learning, this is also for you. Or, if you want to have a lot of fun learning some new tunes while hanging out with me online on a Saturday or two, this is also for you!
Listen, the last thing in the world I want to do is feed you a bunch of hyped-up promises about how quickly you can improve on the guitar. That said, I do think tackling one song each day is a realistic goal. And that’s my vision for you with this course: Learn one song a day, and then on the weekend we’ll have the live class to get you past any sticking points you might have. Plus, I’m hoping this structure will motivate you to stick with it.
Within a month, you could see big changes and conquer this sweet 25-song collection.
If you were skeptical of online courses, that’s ok. I don’t blame you if you still have doubts about how fast you can improve on the guitar. But, I’ve never regretted investing in myself or in musical knowledge. Plus, with my no hassle guarantee, you risk literally nothing.
Just imagine adding 10, 15, or even 25 hot new songs to your bag of tricks in next couple of weeks. Imagine picking up the guitar and just sounding great. That’s what I want to give you on a silver platter.
(Or, you can just keep doing what you’ve been doing and stick with what you already know). It’s up to you.
Time is our most precious asset, so I’m not going to waste either of our time writing a long-winded conclusion here. Bottom line — these blues lessons rock. I’m really proud of them. I stand behind them. I guarantee them with our no hassle refund
policy.
I truly want this for you. If you’ve read this far, it shows me that you’re committed, that you’re someone who still has the passion and desire to play great guitar. You’re exactly the kind of guy who will benefit from these lessons.
Within minutes from now, you can be taking out your guitar, and jamming on some of your favorite songs. And you’ll be amazed at how easy it was to launch your guitar playing right into overdrive.
But I can’t make you click the button. Only you can do that. Only you can make the choice right now to own the Campfire Hits Song Collection.
Rock On,
