Imagine You Could Get Deep Blues Mastery In One Fun Evening. Here’s How It’s Possible…

Dear Aspiring Blues Guitarist,

Boy do I have something exciting for you today. In case we haven’t met before, my name is Claude Johnson, and I’ve spent the better part of my life seeking out guitar knowledge. I love sharing what I’m discovering so we can both enjoy many guitar secrets and powerful shortcuts together.

What is this all about? Well, I’ve put a new course together called The Art of the Blues Riff, and the best part is that it’s a complete system for absolutely kicking butt when it comes to blues riffing and soloing. It’s going to do wonders for you:

Enter the Art of the Blues Riff

Like the old Shaolin Kung-Fu masters said: “fear not the man that practiced 1000 kicks once. Instead, fear the man who practiced one kick 1000 times”. In other words it’s not about learning a million licks and tricks -- it’s about going deep on the basics, and I’m talking about the 12-bar blues.

If you already know the basic 12-bar blues structure, that’s great! Maybe you know some progressions, chords, or even riffs and songs. This system is going to go beyond that by giving you some “secret sauce” that will put you into the realm of advanced players right away. That’s a bold claim, but I’m going to lay it all out for you right here, right now, so keep reading.

It's All About the Arpeggio

You could say that guitar boils down to chords, scales, and arpeggios, but most intermediate guitarists (and even many experienced guitarists) overlook, misunderstand, or underestimate the power of arpeggios.

I don’t know why this is… maybe because everyone is so used to focusing on scales. Even famous rock guitarist Paul Gilbert said “he just didn’t get arpeggios” early in his career. When I was starting out, I didn’t get it either. Later on, I learned (from great teachers) how they could be useful for shredding rock licks, but I still wasn’t clued into how powerful they are for playing blues, especially riffs.

At some recent point in my musical journey, I felt a bit stuck with my blues chops, and started looking into jazz. I thought “If nothing else, this will improve my overall understanding and musicianship”. And what did I learn? Well, one of the most important revelations was that jazz musicians think in terms of “playing over changes”.

That means they are really focusing on playing the chord tones through any given chord progression or song. In some sense, they are using arpeggios (not scales!) as the basis for everything they do. And this revelation blew my mind.

But then, I had another epiphany. I said to myself “Why can’t I use this kind of sophisticated approach to play the blues? I should try to master playing the arpeggios over a 12 bar blues progression”.

So I started digging into this stuff, and it turned out to be one of the biggest breakthroughs in a long time. No joke.

Want Deep Mastery?

I want to emphasize that this is not about sounding “jazzy” vs “bluesy”. This is about deep mastery of the fundamentals. When you play arpeggio tones, what you’re really doing is honing in on the harmonic aspects of your playing, not just the melody. And although the melody is the often more obvious thing, the harmony is, in a sense, even more fundamental and important.

But how do you actually do it? How do you start using arpeggios to play great sounding blues riffs and take your playing to a whole new level almost instantly? That’s what you’re about to discover inside The Art of the Blues Riff.

Another big issue that haunts us as guitarists is that we’re perpetually trying to “master the fretboard”. Sometimes it seems like an endless maze that gets more complicated and confusing every time we try to wrap our fingers around it (no pun intended).

Fortunately, solving this dilemma is another big ingredient of The Art of the Blues Riff. In addition to teaching you the arpeggio-based approach for riffs, licks, and grooves, I’m also going to give you my latest, greatest system for conquering the neck itself, particularly as it applies to the blues.

A Unique, Fun Way to Master the Fretboard

There are so many ways to look at the neck, but you can actually boil down everything into 5 neck positions, because there’s exactly five unique octave shapes on the fretboard. No more, no less. I’ll show you exactly what I mean inside the course.

What we’re going to do is master each of the arpeggios of a blues progression in each of the neck positions. But we’re going to go deep, making sure to focus on every note and degree, and also we’re going to play riffs that are both ascending and descending.

It may initially seem like a good bit of work, but with everything laid out for you and all the guesswork taken out, it’s nothing you can’t master in a relatively short time if you put your mind to it…and I’ll do my best to inspire you and make it fun and enjoyable. It really is a fun (yet systematic) way to master the fretboard while playing the blues at the same time. You’re gonna love it.

A New Approach to the Guitar For You

So to summarize what The Art of the Blues Riff is all about, it’s definitely not just a collection of riffs. Sure, there will be plenty of examples you can copy and steal, but more importantly, you’re going to get a complete and novel approach to the guitar that will empower you and give you the knowledge for creating your own epic blues.

It’s so powerful because you’ll be playing through the entire 12 bar blues progression like a boss. That means you’ll actually be playing real music WHILE you’re working on your skills, as opposed to just doing exercises in a vacuum. It makes a huge difference.

A Blues System You Can Learn Fast

This system is simple and straightforward. You won’t have to study it for weeks or months. You can learn the entire system in one (or a few) sittings, and from there, you’ll be well on your way to achieving a certain level of mastery… one that will be richly rewarding for you, I promise.
