Hey, how’s it going this is Jon McLennan with Guitar Control, we’re going to look at a blues in the key of E and this is these chord shapes are three very important chord shapes that I found, Eric Clapton uses in a lot of his acoustic blues, you know I’ve learned every single song on the unplugged album and transcribed tons of his blues playing off of You Tube and I found that these three chords are use a lot of the times for an E blues.
The first one is this you take your E chord just E, you know 0 to 2-1-0-0, and you just add your pinky on the 3rd fret of the 2nd string and it becomes an E7. One of the things about the blues is that all the chords are dominant 7 chords so there’s three seven and then we’re going to go to an A7 a lot of times. I’ll just play it with one finger and then if you take either your third or your second finger if you want, I like my third to play this A7, I add a G note on the high string of a 3rd fret so it becomes this chord so E7 and then an A7.
Now the last chord we’re going to play is a B7 and this is a pretty stock chord and sometimes you might be able to do this as well which is a puzzle that’s a little bit more Robert Johnson you know but let’s see if we can try putting those three chords now together in the 12 bar blues in the key of E, we’re just going to play the rhythm here so here we go all right we’ll be sure to click the link below for the tabs and make sure to subscribe on our You Tube Channel and we’ll see you in our next video lessons, thanks for watching.
