I sometimes show beginners the same kind of thing, but tuned into an open key, to minimise confusion, and to maximise ease of progressing to simultaneous use of a chord, or single note, on top of the open. When dexterity and confidence are gained enough, to produce the sequence, it’s easy to progress to the single finger slide, the hammers etc. Not having to hold a chord, while continuing with the sequence, makes it so much easier to convince people that very few people would be unable to produce nice sounds, and from there, complexity becomes achievable.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Any additional notes on arrangement, no pressure, I just want to finish a song someday. This acoustic to electric jump is definetely getting to me. I may have to hybrid pick a little. I wonder if a different guitar teacher might suggest finger picks instead. Thanks again.

claude I,m sorry to say I am still at the beginning, learning the fingering for the chords, My fingers still hurt so much, but I believe I’ll get there, due to perserverence, sorry having difficulty in spelling the word,, but you know what I mean, I;ll keep plodding along until I get over this mighty big hurdle, once I’ve jumped over that hurdle, it should be clear sailing, still keep the lessons coming, because I will be needing them in the too far distant future, thanks the lessons are quite simple to follow, and sometimes I play the notes on the keyboard, cheers

Very nice little picking pattern… and it’s really quite versatile too… try varying the speed and emphasis for different rhytmic effects…

Just started guitar about three weeks ago but my best dream is to play “House of the Rising Sun”. I noted your picking pattern on the web and wondered if you had the fingering for it? All I know is the C scale!

My favorite is to create percussive variations on all kinds of patterns using the back of my nail on single or multiple strings while I slap the geetar. Bouncy.

finger pickin looks easy…but its not…thanx claude…get a lot out of your lessons..even though im an experienced guitarist..thers always something new to learn..thats why i love the guitar…cheers ben
