Check the image above to follow the chords and tabs.
For the Intro, we do have four chords. They are all bar chords, a c-sharp minor, which is on the fourth fret we got 4, 6, 6, and 5, then we move up to an E chord which is 7, 9, 9, and 9, then a b shape which is 7, 9, 9, a, 7, and then take that same chord and move it down on a whole step 2, 5, 7, 7, 6, and 5. Start with those four shapes, one measure each, and you’re going to play eighth notes.
I like a finger picking pattern, something like this. What I’m doing basically is my thumb going twice on the 5th and 4th strings, and then taking my index and middle finger clawing the 2nd and 3rd strings. Just go up and down like this, going to one, two, and three, and four, and b. Now on this one I skip a string so I’ve got a thumbs skip with the right hand. And then the next pattern I am putting my thumb on the root note of the fifth string, and my other two fingers are pulling back into the palm of my hand.
Do not forget to always listen to the track. Try to realize that you’re just trying to imitate the sounds on the recordings, copying the rhythms and copying the accents, the phrasing, and everything about the recording.
