Hey, how’s it going this is Darren Goodman with Guitar Control, I’m going to continue on my little series of riffs, from some of my favorite guitar players and favorite bands and stuff. Today we’re going to look at a riff from Iron Maiden, one of my all-time favorite bands and when you have this little opening riff from the song “Wasted Years”.
Check the image above to follow the chords and tabs.
Start by pedaling that 1st string open, one thing you want to be sure is while you’re doing this, you rest the palm of your hand on the lower strings so they don’t start making noise, make it as clean as possible. We’re starting off with the 12th fret of the 1st string and from there we go to the 7th fret, 8th fret, 7th fret, 3rd fret, 5th fret, 2nd fret, 3rd fret, and then the 5th fret, the whole sequence slowly.
When you’re playing with this pedal there are some places where we do four open strings in between notes and there’s another ones that’s only three. So look at the tabs so you can see that spots are at.
The best way to really do it is to first memorize where these notes land on your fret and then you can go back and fill in the open string, pedal notes in there. I hope you enjoyed that and be sure to subscribe on our You Tube Channel and we’ll see you in our next video lessons, thanks for watching.
