Hey, how’s it going this is Jon McLennan with Guitar Control, in this video lesson I’m going to show you how to play “American Woman Classic” song by The Guess Who.

Check the image above to follow the chords and tabs.

This is how I approach that rhythm figure; it’s basically an e5 power chord seven, and nine. I use my pinky, or you could use your third finger if you want, slide it down two frets to a d5, and then back up. Trying to really dampen the strings, my rule is if I’m not playing it, I try to mute it then go up one string to seven, nine, on the sixth, and fifth, then go back down to five, and seven.

The first bar leaves out the middle part on the second measure, the first measure, and then the lead goes on top, that goes like this nine string 11 slide into 13, and then 13, 14, 16, and then 15.

That’s kind of outlining 87 chords and then the last phrase goes up to 16, so I’ve got three, the fourth, and the underneath. Be sure to subscribe on our YouTube Channel and we’ll see you in our next video lesson, thanks for watching.
