Cool Guitar Lick with Interval of 6th -- Electric Guitar Lesson

How’s it going, guys? My name is John McClennan
and I’m here with guitarcontrol.com, bringing you
this video blog. I’m going to show you a cool little
trick you can do with a typical thing that you’ll
hear in sixths on the guitar, like this kind of sound.

Let’s say we’re starting in the key of A and we have
that lick, which is a very common sound where I have
the 6th fret and the 5th fret. And then I go up to the
7th and 7th; 9th and 9th, and then back down. Or even
this. That kind of thing you hear all the time.

What I like to do is put your two fingers here and
then you can play those first notes and then you
can also get all those other notes and let them
ring over. See how cool that is? That’s kind of
the basic idea. You can continue it down like this.

There’s a song I wrote called “Lesson Learned” off
my second album, “Dreams“, and it starts off like
this. A real cool sound just using those intervals
there, the two notes and then letting them ring over.

So click the link below for the tab and we’ll see
you in the next video lesson. Thanks for watching.
