I’m super excited to show you this great riff.
It’s just a typical slow blues cliche,
a la “Stormy Monday” with the Allman Brothers
or the original writer, T Bone Walker.
We’re looking at a blues here in G and what
What I like to do is — let me show you how I do it.
I use my thumb here on the 3rd fret and then
it’s a little bit harder, but I’ll use my 3rd finger,
my 2nd finger, and then my pinkie on these frets, 3, 2, 4.
Be sure to just click the link below for
the tab for this. But that’s our G. So we’re
going to go and then I’m going to slide that
up a little step, so twice on the thumb and
then back down. And then I might go. Here’s
just a good vibe for you. Take it up to the IV chord.
And then we can go to some other blues changes,
but that’s the basic idea.
Now, I like to use this fingering because I like to go…
I like to get this note on top. That’s a cool sound to me.
And then I walk the base there. F,
F sharp, G. A real good sound.
So “Stormy Monday” blues. practice that one.
