Ok, today I want to show you 3 licks -one very simple, one intermediate, and
one a bit more advanced.
You would use this in the key of A when you’re in the “turnaround”
section of a blues – aiming to end up on the V degree which is the E chord.
If that sounds like some “uncool” theory, I’m sorry I don’t have a video to
break it down for you today, my neighbor is sleeping and I don’t want
to wake him, lol…But check out my blues course. (CLICK HERE)
Anyway, ok, so the first lick, you’re gonna do a simple bend, release, pull-off lick
in the A pentatonic box and hit the E note at the end… Add some vibrato — give it a good shake
to emphasize it and drive the point home!

Ok, next lets spice that up by using our root note (the A note)
as a “pivot” note while we climb up the G string chromatically (one fret at a time).
You can use any fingering that feels natural to you. Don’t forget to shake
that last note.

Alright, got that one down? Awesome! Ok, now lets try to get
even more sophisticated and find an even more meandering way to get
to that high E. I’ll use a set of chromatically descending diminished arpeggios.

Food for thought! Never stop exploring. – Claude
