Challenge of the modern day guitarist

hi Friend,

I’m about to sit down for a practice
session here and working on my picking

You know, one thing I’ve learned in
life is that people tend to have
similar experiences.

So if I’m struggling with something,
chances are good that many people
feel the same thing.

One thing that I struggle with when
I practice, is distractions.

For me, my teaching business is
one source. There’s always something
to update on one of my websites, always
emails to answer, etc…

But we all have hectic lives.

And today, there’s so many things
like text messages, TV, Internet,
you name it.

So it’s harder than a generation ago.

I think it may go even deeper than
that, too. Something in our personality
doesn’t want the world to stop while
we “just practice”.

It’s almost like a meditative thing.

But we just have to shutter ourselves
away for a block of time and play.

In another email I’ll share some of the solutions
that work well to remain focused.

For now, I gotta go play! 🙂

Oh by the way, you’re gonna flip
when you get my next email. You’ll
never guess in a million years who
Jimmy Dillon was jamming with.

I was shocked when I saw the photos,
and I don’t shock easily. I’ll show you.

Stay tuned…
