Hey, how’s it going this is Claude Johnson with Guitar Control, I’m going to teach you how to play the song called “Horse with no name” by America.

This song doesn’t have very many chords we’ve got an E minor chord, we’ve got this chord which is a D, ad 9, D6 ad 9, but basically all it is you’ve got the low E-string 2nd fret and the G-string 2nd fret you can either play it with your thumb, if you want like this but that’s a little harder because you’ve got to get those open strings. So play it like that basically it’s a 6 ad 9 because the open B-string is the 6 degree of B and the high E is the 9. So we’ve got an f-sharp in the bass so we would call that a d6 adenine over F sharp, fancy name but not hard to play ok so then so what you’re going to do is strum like 1, 1, 2, 3 & 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 so it’s all 8th notes except the 1st strum.

Now here’s a little twist on that last beat of the 2nd chord of the D chord you’re going to lift off and play the open E in the bass so you have this, now it does that whole pattern for maybe the first 25 seconds of the song then it’s going to replace the E minor chord with an E ad not or A minor ad 9 sorry or you can just call it an E minor 9 but basically it’s like here’s you’re A minor 7 chord just one finger you add your ring finger to the 2nd fret high E-string so you can hear that chord remains through the whole song so this is another good song to tap your foot to practice that also you can use a little bit of palm muting if it’s ringing out too much you know you don’t want it to be kind of sounding sloppy so just using a little bit of palm muting here if you’re playing this on the electric you can also dial your volume back a little bit as well as your tone if I had the volume all the way up on my guitar with the tone it’s a little bit hard to control that dynamically so just when i dial it back it kind of gives me the right tone.
