How to Play Basic Samba Rhythm For Guitar


Hey, how’s it going this is Jon McLennan with Guitar Control, . What I want to show you today is just a basic samba pattern for guitar. I’m thinking of this in two beats per measure is just 1, 2; 1, 2 and the chord that I’m going to use in the example are in the tab.

You’ve got the 3rd fret, 2nd fret, 4th fret, 3rd fret. And I’m going to start with
fingers 1, 2, 3, or I-M-A if you’re thinking classically, on the 4th string,
3rd string and 2nd string. That’s going to come in on the last 16th note, one-E-and-A, two-E-and — A. So we’re starting on the A — one-E-and-A, two-E-and-A. And then my thumb is going to play the downbeat and then
I’m going to play the and — one-and — with the upper part of the chord.
