Hey, this is Matias Rengel with Guitar Control, we’ll be learning three awesome pop songs that have incredible riffs to show.

Click on the Tabs button to follow chords and tabs.

The first thing I’m going to teach is a song by Ellie Goulding, it came out recently and it’s really cool. For this one we’re going to be placing our index finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th string and I like to place my pinky finger on the 4th fret of the 3rd string just like this and you’re going to be playing four times. Check this out the easy part about this is that you’re going to keep your pinky there and you’re going to bring the ring finger into the 4th fret of the 5th string, do the same thing four times over.

Now you’re going to go with this shape right here and you’re going to move your ring finger to the 6th fret and you’re going to bring your middle finger into the 5th fret of the 3rd string and now bring this up fret and that’s it that’s your super simple riff.

I do recommend that you do this with it down up so when you play the 4th string you hit down when you play the 3rd string you heat up it’s going to be easier it’s going to be much more complicated to go it’s not even worth it playing it like that so see it is much like this and anyway that’s the riff really cool hope you enjoy it.

Now for our second song we are going to be playing a song by the artist named Khalid. This is a really cool song and for this you’re going to play place your pinky finger on the 6th fret of the 5th string your middle finger on the 4th fret of the 4th string and your index finger on the 3rd fret of the 3rd string check this out so you go 5, 4, 3rd 4th after that these 2 notes are going to stay the same ok the 4th string and the 3rd string but we’re going to change the finger ok the finger is going to change from the middle to the ring and the middle finger is going to go into the 4th fret of the 5th string so and here instead of doing the same set of strings we’re going to just do 5 so we have and now check this out you’re going to go with your index finger into the 2nd fret of the 5th string keeping the ring finger right here and you’re going to put your pinky on the 6th fret of the 3rd string so you should practice the actual chords now what I like to do for the arpeggio of this I like to sometimes go all the way up always up with the pick but I also like to go down up so remember practice this and you will have it it’s a really cool song.

Now for a third song we’re going to be learning the song “Starving” and by Hailee Steinfeld and I think it’s a really cool song the chord progression goes a major F sharp minor B sharp minor C sharp minor in B major now we’re playing mostly thirds so what we’re doing for example the 1st chord we’re playing this open 6 and then the 1st fret of the 3rd string and then you come down with your hand like this part of the hand like this and then you go into the 2nd fret of the 6th and 3rd string so at the same time and then after that you’re going to go into the 4th fret of the 5th string and the 5th fret of the 2nd string you place  and you play 5th,  2nd and you come down with the hand and then you go into the 2nd fret of this 5th string and this 4th fret of the 2nd string.

Check out the last time that you play this B you’re not going to play this but you’re going to play the 2nd fret of the 5th and the 2nd fret of the 1st at the same time. What I like to use is the pick for the lower notes and the fingers for the higher notes, but you can also use your hand. Very simple to play and it’s going to help you probably to make more songs there you have it three pop songs super easy to play with really cool riffs as usual I hope you’ve enjoyed this lesson and remember to subscribe to our You Tube channel and we’ll see you in our next video lessons, thanks for watching.
