I was driving in my car today listening
to some new band on WXPN member-supported
radio.
It’s a great radio station with tons
of REAL, great music (not your commercial
radio crap).
Anyway, I digress.
The guy was playing a guitar solo and
he was using this lick I’ve heard a gazillion
times from almost every shredder including
Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai.
It’s such a useful cool lick, but it’s
really become a cliche.
Still, cliches are cliches because they
were powerful — they just got overused.
