Hey, this is Matias Rengel with Guitar Control, we’ll be learning the song “You don’t know my Name” by Alicia Keys.

You Don’t Know My Name Chords

The first thing that I want to point out is that we have a few chords here and before even getting into rhythms or any sort of lick you better feel here in the progression. We go on B minor 7 here for those of you who don’t know its finger all across the ring finger of this 9th fret and 4th fret of the 5th string.

Now will be using another B minor just the same it’s a different position so this one you’re going to have the index finger on the 3rd 2nd fret and you’re going to have your ring finger on the 4th fret of  the 4th string pinky finger on the 4th fret of the 3rd string and middle finger on the 3rd fret of this I can make of something and then we go into a C sharp 7, so for the C sharp 7 you’re going to have your index all across that 4th fret on the 6th fret of the 4th string and pinky on the 6th fret of the 2nd string.

The Chorus

Now for the chorus I like to play this specific version of this so I put my index finger on the 5th fret of the 6th string, ring finger on the 4th string and 6th fret of the 2nd string. In the beginning this song starts straight up so for the lick we’re going to have a C so they’re on the if you do it with your index and if and the pinky do from the third fret right there you have to lower two more steps the 4th fret down to a 2nd fret and then you bring down. Now if we divide this into beats in bars we have two B minor and they will go into the chorus it will be the same as the beginning but except instead of reading the B minor 7 its going to be the A major 7. Now the lick is only going to appear once you go back to verse but sometimes the chorus repeats.

I hope you enjoyed this lesson and incorporate more chords and more licks into your playing this is a really cool song by Alicia Keys and now you can sing with it you can sing along with the song or play when you are with your friends or when you are jamming with your band.
