to bring you this lesson. What we’re working
on right now is a jazz chord lick. This is
just something that could be played all over
a G major chord.
What I dig about this is on top there’s a
melody that happens to be like a pentatonic
blues lick. That kind of sounding thing.
But I harmonize the entire lick with a chord,
and this chord is a 6-9, which here’s a great
jazz voicing: 2nd fret, 2nd fret, 3rd fret,
3rd fret. So I’m literally moving that entire
chord in parallel motion up the guitar.
Here is your 6-9 chord, starting on G then B flat,
then C and then D, sliding into it, C, B flat,
C and home to G. So the concept is simple. It’s all
one chord and the it’s just a pentatonic lick,
but it sounds so good. That might be something
that you might not have thought of.
