Introduction
Hey everybody how’s it going? This is Darrin with GuitarControl.com bringing you this video lesson. Today I want to teach you how to play a nice simple acoustic rendition of Blind Faith by Warrant. So this was a really popular song when I was still in high school, I think it was my senior year that this song came out. I always thought it was a really cool song and I’ve been kind of doing this series of fun easy acoustic guitar tunes and so I thought this would be a great one to throw in there. So be sure to click on the link in the description for the tabs and let’s get close up and take a look.
Blind Faith Chords
All right so first let’s go over some chords that we’re using in How To Play Blind Faith By Warrant. So we’ve got E minor; so I’m my low E is open, I’m on the second fret of the A string with my second finger and the second fret of the D string with my third finger and the rest of the strings are all open. Then we have Cadd9… now this Cadd9 is a little bit different than ones that you may have seen before. So how this works is I’m on the third fret of the A string with my second finger and on the second fret of the D string with my first finger and then the D and G strings are open and then I’m on the third fret of the B string with my third finger and the high e is open. And then from there we go to a G major. So this is a really simple change, just put your fourth finger down onto the third fret of the high E and move your first and second fingers from the A and D strings to the low E and A strings. So now I’m on the third fret of the low E and the second fret of the A. And then we have D major; so the D string is open, I’m on the second fret of the G string with my first finger, third fret of the B string with my third finger and the second fret of the high E with my second finger. All right so these are the chords that are in well most of the song and these are the chords that are from the intro.
Blind Faith Verse & Pre-Chorus
So for the verse for How To Play Blind Faith By Warrant it’s kind of similar to the intro. So we start off with the E minor again to Cadd9 to the G and D and this actually repeats four times… and then after that that leads us into our pre-chorus.
So for our pre-chorus for Blind Faith we start off we have Cadd9, but now when we do it we’re actually going to put our pinky down so it’s on the third fret of the high E and this is strumming… so down down down… Now we switch to a G and now when we switch to this G we still have one two three four and then we switch to D; so the pre-chorus and then that leads us into the chorus itself.
Chorus
All right so then for the chorus for Blind Faith if you listen to the original song as soon as it goes to that pre-chorus and the chorus the whole rest of the band comes in with the electric guitars and everything with power chords and all that kind of stuff, but we’re doing the acoustic version of it. So now we’ve got one two three four one two three four, it’s like the universal strum that I’ve talked about on other lessons. So we start with G and it’s a down stroke and it’s two beats; so it’s like one two three four, so down down down and then it goes to a D, same thing one two three four and then Cadd9 same thing and then back to D and it repeats… Now that is a very basic bare bones strumming for this and I’ve said this before you want to try to really get away from feeling like you’re dependent on having a strum pattern. This is kind of a thing that if you can just feel out, like drum it on your steering wheel when you’re driving around, a lot of times what you’re doing there can translate into down and up strokes.
